New Delhi: The Indian cricket team is facing one setback after another ahead of next month’s World Test Championship. On one hand, KL Rahul got injured on Monday, while the news of injury of star bowler Jaydev Unadkat has also come to the fore. Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat, playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, suffered a shoulder injury a day earlier.
Unadkat slipped and injured his shoulder
IPL broadcasters revealed the news by showing footage of LSG’s net practice during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow. It was shown in the video that while practicing at the nets, Unadkat slipped and injured his shoulder. Unadkat was immediately helped with ice packs by the team physio, though LSG is yet to issue an official statement on the injury.

Umesh Yadav is also struggling with injury
If Unadkat is ruled out of the WTC final, it will definitely be a big blow for India as another fast bowler Umesh Yadav is also an injury concern. He missed the last match of Kolkata Knight Riders due to injury. The remaining fast bowlers in Team India are Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
Two pacers included in the standby list
Meanwhile, according to a report, there are two pacers in India’s five-member stand-by list for the WTC final, which includes Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar and hence one of them could be slotted. This is the second time that India will enter the grand finale for the WTC Trophy. In the inaugural edition of the tournament, India lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in the final played at Lord’s. India will compete with Australia from June 7.
