Speaking in the ICC review, Ricky Ponting said- ‘I would choose Ishaan Kishan. If you want to become world champion, you have to win matches. The sixth day (reserve day) has been added only so that both the teams can be given a chance for the best result.
The former Australian player further said, “I would go with Ishan Kishan in the match. I think Ishaan gives some X factor, which you need to win Test matches. Obviously if Rishabh Pant was fit he would have played and provided the X factor to India, but he is not. Ishaan will do well in wicket-keeping but he can give you the high scoring run rate that could be needed to go ahead in a Test match winning pursuit.”
Kishan’s best record in first class cricket
Kishan, who plays domestic cricket for Jharkhand, made his first-class debut against Assam in July 2014. He has so far played 48 matches in first-class cricket, with an average of 38.76 and a strike rate of 68.90. He has scored 2,985 runs with his name. Meanwhile, he has scored 6 centuries and 13 half-centuries with the highest score of 273 runs.
