Uddhav On Rahul Gandhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi not to insult Vinayak Savarkar. On Sunday, Uddhav Thackeray said that downplaying Savarkar would create a rift in the opposition alliance. Uddhav further said that he idolises Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar and asked the Congress leader to refrain from insulting him.
Uddhav said that Savarkar had suffered unimaginable torture in the Andaman Cellular Jail for 14 years. We can only read the sufferings. It is a form of sacrifice. We will not tolerate the insult of Savarkar. He further said that if Rahul Gandhi continues to ‘condemn’ Savarkar, there will be a ‘crack’ in the opposition alliance.

What did Rahul Gandhi say?
Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on Saturday after being convicted in the defamation case and losing his membership of Parliament. During this, a journalist mentioned to Rahul Gandhi the possibilities of apologizing in the case, after which Rahul said, “My name is not Savarkar, my name is Gandhi and Gandhi does not apologize to anyone.”
Thackeray, however, praised Gandhi’s questioning of the government on the Hindenburg Report, saying the prime minister should have answered where the Rs 20,000 crore in the Adani firm had come from. Hitting out at the BJP’s argument over Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against Modi, Thackeray said Modi is not India.
He said, “Modi is not India. Did our freedom fighters sacrifice their lives for this? Questioning Modi is not about insulting India.”
