FIR On Brijbhushan Sharan Singh: Two cases have been registered against the President of Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Delhi’s Connaught Place police station. DCP Pranav Tayal informed that two FIRs were lodged against the WFI president by women wrestlers. The first FIR pertains to the allegations made by the minor, registered under the POCSO Act and other sections of the IPC. The second FIR pertains to allegations of sexual exploitation of other complainants.

In fact, on April 21, seven female wrestlers, including a minor, lodged a complaint at the Connaught Place police station. It was alleged that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh sexually assaulted her. Then the Delhi Police had postponed the matter by saying that first the allegations would be investigated, then action would be taken. After this, the wrestlers sat on a dharna at Jantar Mantar on 23 April. Even then the case was not registered, then the Supreme Court was approached. When the Supreme Court heard on Friday, the Delhi Police had assured to register the case today itself.

Brij Bhushan Singh said – I trust my deeds

Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing allegations of sexual harassment, appeared before the media after the Supreme Court’s order. He said, ‘I have full faith in my deeds. I haven’t done anything wrong. The matter is before the Supreme Court. I welcome whatever decision the court has taken today. I have faith in the decision of the Supreme Court and the investigation process of the police. Wherever my cooperation is required in the investigation, I will cooperate. After investigation, milk will turn into milk and water into water.

He further said, by now the FIR must have been registered. I have always obeyed the law. I haven’t run I am at my residence.’

Wrestlers returned to Jantar Mantar again on April 23

Many wrestlers, including wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia, have again started a sit-in protest from 23 April at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Earlier in January, wrestlers protested against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh alleging sexual exploitation.

In January, the wrestlers called off the strike following the intervention of Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. The Sports Ministry formed a committee to investigate. But the report of the committee is yet to come. Wrestlers are getting support from many opposition parties, khap panchayats and sportspersons.
