Trans Tea Stall: This is the country’s first trans tea stall on the railway platform, railway minister shared the photo

Trans Tea Stall: Trans tea stall has started at Guwahati railway station in Assam. This tea stall is completely run by transgenders. This type of shop is the first shop in the country to open on the railway platform. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has shared the photo of the tea stall.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has also given a caption to the photo. He wrote that India’s first trans tea stall on the railway platform in Guwahati Railway Station.

This initiative to empower the transgender community

According to Sabyasachi Dey, spokesperson of North East Frontier Railway, NEFR has taken this initiative to empower the transgender community. All Assam Transgender Association also cooperated to set up trans tea stalls. North East Frontier Railway has planned to open more such tea stalls at other railway stations as well.

Tea stall on platform number one

The tea stall is located on platform number 1 of the station and was inaugurated by Anshul Gupta, GM, NF Railway. Anshul Gupta said that this is the first initiative of its kind by any government organization.

Swati Bidhan Baruah, associate vice-chairman of the Assam Transgender Welfare Board, said she hoped that more transgender people would be rehabilitated under such government schemes in the times to come.
