History of today
The date of April 9 is known for a movement. In 2011, Anna Hazare started a fast at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan over the Lokpal Bill. The government had to accept their demand on the fifth day, April 9. After this Anna broke the fast. But the bill was not passed till 15th August and on 16th August he sat on fast again. The movement had started across the country.
Eventually the government had to bring the bill in the Lok Sabha. He called off the agitation after the bill was passed by the Lok Sabha. The foundation of Aam Aadmi Party was laid from this movement. Presently AAP is in power in Delhi and Punjab. Although Anna Hazare has kept himself away from politics.
