Tamil Nadu: A major accident took place in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday. There was a sudden explosion in a firecracker factory located in Sivakasi. The explosion was so strong that the roof, walls of the factory were damaged and turned into ruins. Two people died in this accident. Some people are also being told injured.
Police and fire department vehicles have reached the spot after getting information about the explosion. Relief rescue work is going on. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.
Please tell that Sivakasi is called the capital for firecracker manufacturing. There have been two accidents here since January. In which four people died.

Two accidents happened in the past, 4 died
21 Jan 2023: The explosion took place at a firecracker factory near Sengamala Patti village. In which one worker was killed, while one was injured.
19 January 2023: Three people were killed in the blast at Thalapatti in Virudhunagar district. While 11 people were injured.
40 people died in 2012
The biggest accident in Sivakasi in the last decade happened in 2012. On September 5, 2012, there was a huge explosion in Om Shakti Fireworks Factory. In which 40 people lost their lives, while more than 70 were injured. The factory did not even have a valid license.
Sivakasi firecracker hub, turnover of 6 thousand crores here
Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu is called the hub of firecracker factories. 90 percent of the country’s crackers are made here. There are more than 700 factories here. There is an annual turnover of about 6 thousand crore rupees.
