Multiple vehicles collided on Delhi-Saharanpur highway, many injured

New Delhi: Dense fog caused more than a dozen vehicles to collide with each other on the Delhi-Saharanpur highway on Sunday morning, injuring several people. The vehicles included a school bus that was carrying several children. The accident took place near Pali village on National Highway 709B in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat on Sunday when over a dozen vehicles, including motorcycles, cars and school buses, collided amid low visibility.

Many school children are also among the injured. The multi-vehicle collision also involved a bus carrying students of Syadwad Institute of Higher Education and Research in Baghpat who were on their way to participate in a marathon in Delhi. One of the students said that they were a group of about 24 students.

He said when his bus was about to hit a stationary vehicle, the driver applied brakes to cushion the impact but another depot bus rammed into his bus, injuring several people. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the injured to the nearest district hospital. Rescue workers have also reached the spot and are ensuring immediate help to the victims. The police is investigating the matter
