Serbia: A 7-year-old has opened fire at a school in Serbia. Serbian police said a teenage boy opened fire at a school in central Belgrade early Wednesday, injuring several people.

Police received a call about shots fired at Vladislav Ribniker Elementary School around 8:40 a.m. Police said the class VII student has been arrested. The statement said the boy apparently fired several shots at other students and the school guard with his father’s gun.

Serbian media have reported that the guard died in the shootout. Police did not provide any other details. Reports say that scared parents have arrived at the school to find their children missing.

Mass shootings are extremely rare in Serbia. However, experts have repeatedly warned about the number of weapons left in the country after the wars of the 1990s. Police have sealed off the block around the Vladislav Ribnikar school in the center of Belgrade.
