New Delhi: Social media influencer Sapna Gill, accused of attacking Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Sapna Gill is accused of assaulting Shaw. The 14-day judicial custody will begin on Monday after the police custody ends on Monday. Sapna is one of the 8 people arrested by the Oshiwara Police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (143, 148, 149, 384, 437, 504, 506) following the incident in Mumbai.
The police had sought extension of the remand saying they needed to trace the baseball bat and vehicle used in the alleged crime. Oshiwara police in Mumbai had registered a case against Sapna Gill along with 7 others after Prithvi Shaw’s friend Ashish Surendra Yadav filed a complaint. In the complaint, Ashish said that a group of people attacked his car with baseball bats and then chased the car and threatened him with a false case if he did not pay Rs 50,000.

Prithvi Shaw had gone for dinner at a five-star hotel in Santacruz when the unidentified accused came there and insisted for a selfie. Shaw forced the two men to take selfies, but the same group returned and asked to take selfies with the other accused. Shaw this time refused saying that he had come for dinner with friends and did not want to disturb. According to the complaint, when he insisted, Prithvi’s friend called the hotel manager and complained about him.

This incident enraged him and when Shaw and his friend came out of the hotel after having dinner, some people were standing outside the hotel with baseball bats. Prithvi’s friend’s car, a BMW, was vandalized. The accused used a baseball bat to smash the front and rear windows of the vehicle.
