Same-sex marriage: The Supreme Court has transferred the petitions seeking legal recognition to same-sex marriages to a five-judge constitution bench. The Supreme Court said that this issue is of fundamental importance. The constitutional bench will hear the matter from 18.
The central government protested by filing an affidavit
Let us tell you that a day before on Sunday i.e. March 12, the central government had opposed the petition demanding same-sex marriage by filing an affidavit on this issue. The government had said that family in India means the marriage between a man and a woman and the child born to them.

Tushar Mehta said – society will be affected
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, said that the society as a whole would be affected by the court’s decision. Explain that a same-sex couple has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding recognition of their marriage. On this, the Supreme Court had sought an answer from the Central Government.
The petitioner’s lawyer expressed happiness
Same-sex couple’s lawyer Niharika Karanjwala said that we are expecting a positive decision regarding this issue. The matter has been directed to be placed before a constitution bench. We are happy with this step of the court.
