Russian Scientist Murder: Scientist Andrey Botikov, who made Sputnik V, the corona-fighting vaccine for Russia, has been murdered. Andrey Botikov was found dead in his apartment in Moscow on Thursday. Russian media reports said on Saturday that he was strangled to death with a belt (Russian Scientist Murder).

Russian news agency TASS quoted the Russian Investigative Committee as saying that Botikov, 47, worked as a senior researcher at the Gamaleya National Research Center for Ecology and Mathematics. The investigative agency said in a statement that a suspect was arrested hours after Botnikov’s body was found.

Investigation agency bid – investigation continues

According to investigators, there was an argument between the 29-year-old suspect and Andrey Botikov. Meanwhile, the suspect strangled Botikov with a belt. The death of the virologist is being probed as a murder, the probe agency said.

According to the police investigating the case, the suspect has a criminal history. He was earlier sent to jail on charges of a serious crime. Explain that the virologist was awarded the ‘Order of Merit for the Fatherland Award’ by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021 for his excellent work on the Kovid vaccine. Botikov was one of the 18 scientists who developed the Sputnik V vaccine in 2020.
