On duty, President Murmu took the salute of the parade

Republic Day 2023 Live Updates: Today the country is celebrating 74th Republic Day. President Draupadi Murmu took the salute of the parade on the duty path. During this the national anthem was played and 21 gun salute was given. This was followed by the commencement of the first parade on the Dutipath (formerly Rajpath and Kingsway). Indigenous military might is being displayed in the parade. Along with this, cultural diversity will also be seen in the tableaux of different states. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has attended the parade as the chief guest.

This time, instead of VVIPs, workers have been given a place in the front row to watch the parade. Around 6,000 personnel have been deployed for the security of the parade, which includes paramilitary forces and NSG apart from Delhi Police. The duty path is being monitored with the help of around 150 CCTV cameras.

  • Haryana’s tableau featured a design based on the Bhagavad Gita. The tableau depicts Lord Krishna serving as Arjuna’s charioteer and imparting the knowledge of the Gita to him. The patterns on the sides of the trailer depict various scenes from the battle of Mahabharata.
  • The tableau of the Central Armed Police Forces at the 74th Republic Day Parade showcased ‘Women Power’.
  • The three-day Deepotsav celebrated in Ayodhya was shown in the tableau of Uttar Pradesh in the Republic Day parade.
  • Kerala presents a tableau of folk traditions of ‘Nari Shakti’ and women empowerment. The tractor portrays Karthyayani Amma, winner of the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2020, who topped the literacy test at the age of 96.
  • The tableau of Jammu and Kashmir with its theme ‘New Jammu and Kashmir’ depicted the holy Amarnath shrine and tulip gardens and lavender cultivation.
  • The famous Baidyanath temple at Deoghar has been shown in the tableau of Jharkhand. Lord Birsa Munda is depicted at the forefront of the tableau.
  • Known as the Land of the Rising Sun, the tableau of Arunachal Pradesh showcases tourism potential in the fields of adventure, sports, ecology, culture, religion, history and archaeology.
  • The tableau of Tripura with the theme ‘Tourism in Tripura with active participation of women and sustainable livelihood through organic farming’ was displayed in the Republic Day Parade. It also shows the Mahamuni Buddha Temple.
  • The tableau of Gujarat on the Republic Day 2023 on the theme ‘Clean-Green Energy Efficient Gujarat’ depicts renewable sources of energy.
  • Corbett National Park and Jageshwar Dham of Almora were depicted in the tableau of Uttarakhand.
  • Assam’s tableau showed Ahom warrior Lachit Borphukan on a boat and a view of Maa Kamakhya temple.
  • The tableau of Andhra Pradesh depicts ‘Prabhala Teertham’, the festival of farmers during Makar Sankranti at the Republic Day parade.
  • NCC boys and girls contingents also marched on the path of duty on Republic Day.
  • President Murmu took the salute from the all-women Central Reserve Police Force contingent at the Republic Day parade.
  • A naval contingent of 144 young sailors led by Lieutenant Commander Disha Amrit marched on duty as Contingent Commanders. For the first time in history, 3 women and 6 men Agniveers participated in the marching contingent.
  • The Egyptian army also joined the parade on duty. A combined band and marching contingent of the Egyptian Armed Forces, led by Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Fattah El Kharasawy, joined the parade.
  • The brass band of the Indian Navy played the Indian Navy song ‘Jai Bharati’ and marched on the path of duty on Republic Day.
  • The Akash weapon system of 27 Air Defense Missile Regiment, led by Captain Sunil Dashrath from ‘Amritsar Airfield’ and Lieutenant Chetna Sharma of 512 Light AD Missile Regiment (SP) participated in the parade.
  • BrahMos contingent of 861 Missile Regiment led by Lt Prajwal Kala participated in the parade on the line of duty.
  • The K9-Vajra-T (Self-Propelled) Gun System was demonstrated on the duty path. In addition, a Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicle contingent led by Captain Naveen Dhatarwal of 3 Ladakh Scouts Regiment marched on the path of duty. The vehicle is ideally built for troops operating in Ladakh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
  • President Draupadi Murmu took the salute from Lieutenant Siddharth Tyagi, who commanded the Nag Missile System of the 17 Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

  • Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan unfurled the national flag on the 74th Republic Day in Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao did not attend the function held at Raj Bhavan.
  • National Vice President Raman Singh unfurled the tricolor at the BJP headquarters in Delhi. During this, National General Secretary of the party Kailash Vijayvargiya, National General Secretary (Organization) BL Santosh and other leaders were also present.
  • On the occasion of Republic Day, at the headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Nagpur, RSS Nagpur Mahanagar Sahasanghchalak Shridhar Gadge unfurled the national flag.

  • Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan unfurled the national flag on the 74th Republic Day in Hyderabad.
  • Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot unfurled the tricolor at the CM House in Jaipur on Republic Day.

Salute given for the first time by indigenous cannon

After the unfurling of the national flag by President Draupadi Murmu, a 21-gun salute was given by indigenous Indian field guns for the first time. Explain that the Indian field gun replaced the old 25 pounder gun, which reflects the growing ‘self-reliance’ in the defense sector. After the National Anthem, 4 MI-17 1V/V5 helicopters of 105 Helicopter Unit were showered on the duty path.

The parade began with President Draupadi Murmu taking the salute. The parade was commanded by the Commander, Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, second generation Army officers.

This time it happened for the first time on Republic Day when instead of VVIPs, laborers sat in the first line to watch the parade. Rickshaw pullers, footpath shopkeepers, laborers developing the duty path and their relatives were included in these.

Tableaux of 17 states and union territories were held

The parade featured tableaux from 17 states and union territories, six different ministries and departments, showcasing growing indigenous capabilities, cultural heritage, economic and social progress as well as glimpses of New India through Nari Shakti.
