Rajya Sabha Polls: Elections for 10 Rajya Sabha seats will be held on July 24. The Election Commission has informed about this. The three states in the election will be in Gujarat-Goa and Bengal. The seats falling vacant due to the end of the tenure of MPs include the seat of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar from Gujarat.
According to the Election Commission of India, elections are to be held on six seats in Bengal, three in Gujarat and one in Goa.
In Bengal, the by-election for the seat vacated by the resignation of Luzinho Joaquim Faleria will also be held on July 24. The tenure of this seat is till 2 April 2026.

S Jaishankar is set to go to Rajya Sabha again
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Dineshchandra Jemalbhai Anavadia and Lokhandwala Jugalsinh Mathurji are BJP MPs from Gujarat. Whose term ends on August 18. S Jaishankar’s re-entry into the Rajya Sabha is believed to be certain. In two other seats, BJP can give a chance to new faces.
Election will also be held on one seat in Goa. The tenure of BJP MP Vinay D. Tendulkar ends on July 28. Elections will be held on six seats in West Bengal as the tenure of Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, is coming to an end. The term of Sushmita Dev, Shanta Chhetri and Sukhendu Shekhar Ray and Congress MP Pradip Bhattacharya ends on August 18.
Last date of nomination 13 July
The notification for the election will be issued on July 6. The last date for nomination will be July 13 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be July 17. Voting will be held on July 24. Results will come on the same day.
