PSL 2023: Big blow to Islamabad United, stormy bowler out due to injury

New Delhi: England player Tymal Mills will not be able to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) this year. He suffered the injury during training ahead of his flight to Pakistan. The England fast bowler was supposed to join Islamabad United’s squad for the PSL by the end of February but the player has informed the franchise about his injury.

Mills will not be able to play in PSL

An Islamabad United official said, “Tymal Mills has suffered a setback during his recovery from injury and hence will not be a part of the Islamabad United squad for the PSL in Pakistan.” However, following Mills’ return, Islamabad United’s squad was expanded. England’s Alex Hales joined United for the remainder of the tournament.

Good news from Colin Munro

Hales had earlier pulled out of England’s tour of Bangladesh to play for Islamabad United in the PSL. United have got another relief. Colin Munro is not hurt. Now he can play for the team. Munro suffered a thumb injury during the match against the Qalandars. The franchise was anticipating a possible fracture, but scans carried out in Islamabad revealed that there was no fracture in the batsman’s thumb.

He is expected to be fit and available for selection for the remaining matches. The team management says that they will assess his condition ahead of the game against Karachi Kings. Meanwhile, youngster Zeeshan Jamir suffered an injury during the match against Lahore Qalandars. The team management is monitoring his fitness. The youngster is likely to miss a few more matches before he is available for selection.
