PM Modi France visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for UAE after a two-day visit to France. During his diplomatic visit to France, he presented gifts made by Indian craftsmanship to French President Emmanuel Macron, his wife Brigitte Macron, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, French National Assembly Speaker Yelle Braun-Pivet and French Senate Gérard Larcher. PM Modi presented a sitar made of sandalwood to Emmanuel and gifted a silk saree to First Lady Brigitte.

Goddess Saraswati in sitar, figure of Lord Ganesha

PM Modi presented a unique piece of sitar to President Macron, which is completely crafted from sandalwood. The figure of Goddess Saraswati and Lord Ganesha is carved in the sitar. Along with this, there is also a depiction of India’s national bird peacock.

Pochampally Sarees in Sandalwood Box

French First Lady Brigitte Macron was gifted a Pochampally silk saree by PM Modi, which was kept in a decorative sandalwood box. The saree is made in Pochampally in Telangana.

A table decorated with ‘marble inlay work’ was gifted to Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne. Known for its exotic artistry, the marble inlay work uses high quality marble from Makrana, Rajasthan and semi-precious stones sourced from different parts of India. Gerard Larcher, President of the French Senate, was presented with a hand-crafted sandalwood elephant statue. The symbol of wisdom, strength and good fortune in Indian culture, the elephant is a beautiful reflection of the harmony between nature, culture and art.

Government sources said each of these gifts serves as a symbol of India’s rich heritage, reflecting the diverse cultural ties that bind the countries. PM Modi was honored during France’s Bastille Day celebrations on Friday. PM Modi began his two-day visit to Paris on Thursday.
