Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received by Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O’Farrell and other officials on his arrival in Sydney, according to news agency ANI. During his visit, PM Modi will hold bilateral meeting with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese.

An official statement issued by the Australian government said that in their bilateral meeting, the two leaders will discuss trade and investment, including efforts to promote trade through the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement. People-to-people contacts, renewable energy, and work to strengthen defense and security cooperation are also likely to come up for discussion.

It has been told that Indian expatriates also welcomed PM Modi on his arrival in Sydney. They raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”. Some Indian expatriates living in Sydney also clicked pictures with PM Modi.

Taking forward Australia’s growing trade and investment ties with India, PM Modi is also expected to discuss the Australia-India CEO Forum to be held in Mumbai in March, according to a statement. It is reported that during the visit, Prime Minister Modi will also participate in a community event of Australia’s dynamic and diverse Indian diaspora.

Meanwhile, Australian PM Albanese has said that he looks forward to visiting India in September in New Delhi for the G20 Leaders Summit, the world’s premier forum for economic cooperation.
