Pakistan Political Unrest: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s troubles in Pakistan are not taking the name of abatement. As per the latest developments, prominent leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jamshed Cheema and his wife Musarrat Cheema have been put under house arrest on Wednesday. Apart from this, a decision can be taken soon in Pakistan even on banning Imran’s party.
Rawalpindi commissioner issued order
According to a report by news agency ANI, Pakistani news channel ARY News reported that the house arrest orders for the leaders of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party were issued by the commissioner of Rawalpindi. He has taken this action under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
These people including former foreign minister of Pakistan are under house arrest
Soon after the order was issued, Pakistan’s former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PTI leader Jamshed Cheema and his wife Musarrat Jamshed Cheema have been placed under house arrest for 15 days. Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Shah Mahmood Qureshi was arrested again minutes after being released from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.
Arrested again hours after release from jail
Soon after his release, party leader Musarrat Jamshed Cheema was also arrested again. Before his arrest, Qureshi said outside the jail that he was, is and will remain a part of PTI. After this, the police took the former minister to an unknown place. His statement about staying in the party came hours after the party’s senior vice-president Shireen Mazari announced her decision to quit PTI and politics, Geo News reported.
There was a ruckus in Pakistan on May 9
The Islamabad High Court is reported to have ordered Qureshi’s release on Tuesday after he submitted an affidavit that he would refrain from agitating and inciting workers. According to Geo News, Qureshi was among the top PTI leaders arrested from Islamabad within 24 hours of violent protests by PTI workers following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan on May 9 in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
