Odisha Train Tragedy: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested three railway officials in connection with the horrific train accident that took place in Odisha’s Balasore last month. The accused include Senior Section Engineer Arun Kumar Mohanta, Section Engineer Mohammad Amir Khan and Technician Pappu Kumar. They have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and destruction of evidence. CBI slaps IPC section on all three accused Case has been registered under 304 and 201.
Sources say that such a major accident took place because of these officers. That is why he has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The officers knew that this tragedy would happen because of their work.

CBI had registered the case on June 6
On June 6, the CBI took over the investigation of the Odisha train accident. Earlier, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had announced that a CBI inquiry into the accident has been recommended.
The CBI had sealed the Bahanaga Bazar railway station, the site of the accident in Balasore. 170 trains pass through this station. After the accident, now no train stops at this station.
278 people died in the triple train accident
In fact, the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express derailed after hitting a goods train in Balasore district at around 7 pm on June 2. Then the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express came and rammed into the coaches.
There were about 2500 passengers in both the passenger trains. In this horrific accident, 292 people died, while 1208 people were injured.
