New Delhi: So far 288 people have died in the train accident in Balasore, Odisha, while more than 1000 are said to be injured. Repair work is going on at the site, in which more than 1000 workers are engaged. More than 7 poklen machines, 2 accident relief trains, 3-4 railway and road cranes have been deployed for restoration on the track.
Damaged coaches being removed
According to officials, the repair work will continue overnight at the accident site. The debris and damaged coaches of the derailed trains are being removed. South Eastern Railway Balasore CPRO Aditya Kumar Chaudhary said – Repair work has started. We have arranged for proper lighting. Team is on site… We are on the job and trying to restore it as soon as possible. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav is also at the site.

288 dead bodies recovered, more than 1 thousand injured
NDRF DIG Mohsin Shahidi told- 288 bodies were recovered while more than 1000 injured have been admitted to different hospitals. Efforts are on to clear the remaining debris of the derailed trains from the track. The restoration work will continue throughout the night despite the extremely hot weather.

PM Narendra Modi encouraged the workers engaged in repair work by appreciating them. Meanwhile Dr Bhubana Nanda Moharana, Emergency Medical Officer, SCB Medical College, Cuttack, Odisha said – We have received a total of 193 patients, out of which we have discharged 9 patients. Currently 7 patients are serious. The government has declared everything free from investigation to treatment.
