Terror Funding Case: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday approached the Delhi High Court seeking death penalty for Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik. The NIA had sought death penalty for Yasin Malik before the trial court last year. But it was rejected. Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court.
A bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Talwant Singh of the Delhi High Court will hear the NIA’s plea on Monday.

Yasin did not oppose the allegations
In May 2022 Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court after being convicted under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a terror funding case. Yasin had decided not to contest the charges.
Others who were charged included Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Hizbul Mujahideen chief Salahuddin, Rashid Engineer, Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Naeem Khan and Farooq Ahmad Dar. The case was related to alleged terrorism and separatist activities. He was arrested by the NIA in 2019.
