Udhampur IED Blast Case: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed a charge sheet against two Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives in the Udhampur IED blast case in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA has charged Mohd Aslam Shaikh alias Adil and Mohd Amin Bhat alias Abu Khubayb alias Pinna for recruiting terrorists and restarting terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA took over the investigation of the case from the Jammu and Kashmir Police on 15 November 2022. NIA alleges that Adil was in touch with Lashkar terrorist Pinna. Pinna lives in Pakistan. It was Pinna who recruited Adil to blast two IEDs in buses parked in public areas of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Two people were injured in this blast.

Pinna is a resident of Doda.
According to the NIA, Pinna is originally from Doda in Jammu and Kashmir. He had joined Hizbul Mujahideen in 1997. After this, he had carried out many terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. He fled to Pakistan in 2009. Presently he is an active handler of Lashkar. He is playing an important role in restarting terrorist activities in the valley.
Pinna had sent the consignment of explosives to Kathua sector to detonate the IED, which was received by Adil. Pinna had used a drone to deliver the explosives.
The blasts took place on 28 and 29 September 2022
Adil had planted IEDs on 28 September 2022 in two different buses plying between Basnatgarh and Udhampur. One explosion occurred around midnight on 28 September and the other on 29 September. After his arrest, Adil revealed the consignment he had stored for future blasts. Two IEDs, three bombs, three detonators, three stick bombs and two programmable thermostat displays were recovered from Adil’s house. This consignment was delivered from Pakistan.

The NIA has filed a charge sheet against Adil and Pinna under sections 120B, 121A, 122, 307 and 407 of the Indian Penal Code, sections 3 and 4 and sections 16, 18 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908. He has also been charged under sections 18B, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
