Nagaland Election Result 2023: Hekani Jakhlu of NDPP has become the first woman legislator of Nagaland after winning from Dimapur-III constituency. This is the first time a woman candidate has won in Nagaland since it gained statehood 60 years ago.

Hekani Jakhlu is the candidate of the ruling NPPP in the state. Jakhlu has won the election from Dimapur-III assembly seat. Hekani Jakhlu defeated his rival by a margin of 1,536 votes.

Jakhlu got more than 14 thousand votes

Jakhlu got 14,395 votes. Whereas, Azeto Zhimomi of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) came second with 45.16 percent votes. Let us inform that another woman candidate of NDPP, Salhoutuonuo Kruse is also leading from West Angami seat.

According to the latest update shared by the Election Commission of India at 2.10 pm on Thursday, BJP has won two and NDPP has won eight seats. Candidates of Republic Party of India (Athawale) have won Noksen and Tuensang Sadar-II seats.

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), which contested 15 assembly seats in the state this year, also managed to open its account in the state. Apart from these, independent candidates Nisatuo Mero and Kevipodi Sophie have won from Pafutsero and Southern Angami-1.
