West Bengal: There is outrage across the country over the incident of women being paraded naked in Manipur. So far four accused have been arrested. BJP claims that a similar incident has also happened in West Bengal. BJP MP from Hooghly district of Bengal Locket Chatterjee had a press war on Friday. During this, she mentioned the incident of alleged sexual harassment of a BJP candidate by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers during the Panchayat elections on July 8 and broke down.
Locket Chatterjee said that one incident after another is happening in Bengal. But the Chief Minister of the state is silent even after being a woman. Tell me where will we go? We are also women and we want our daughters to be saved. The daughter of Manipur is also the daughter of the country, West Bengal is also in the country.
Majumdar said – BJP worker was paraded naked
West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar was also present there. Condemning the Manipur incident, he pointed to a similar incident in West Bengal where a woman BJP worker was paraded naked. Is it less tragic than the Manipur incident, he alleged? The difference is that there is no video of this incident because Mamta Banerjee’s police does not allow it to be recorded.

The incident of July 8, this claim was made in the FIR
In fact, an incident like Manipur had come to the fore from Dakshin Panchla area of Howrah district. Where a BJP candidate was allegedly molested by TMC workers during the voting for the Panchayat elections on July 8. Then he was stripped naked and taken around the village. According to the first FIR lodged by the victim, ‘TMC candidate Himanta Roy along with others assaulted me at the polling booth. They hit me on the chest and head with sticks and pushed me out of the polling booth.
It is further written in the FIR, ‘When some of these people were beating me, Himanta Roy instigated Ali Shaikh and Sukmal Panja to tear my saree and undergarments. They assaulted me further and forced me to strip naked and molested me in front of other people.
The PM had said – someone should also talk about Bengal
PM Modi also mentioned the Bengal incident in his address before the start of the monsoon session. PM Modi had said that the daughter of Manipur is also the daughter of the country. West Bengal is also a part of this country. PM Modi talked about strict laws in every state. We want someone to talk about women in Bengal.
