Manipur Violence: BJP MLA Vungjagin Walte was attacked by a mob in Imphal on Thursday. The condition of the BJP MLA is said to be critical. According to reports, the MLA was attacked when he was returning from the state secretariat after meeting Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Vungjagin Valte has been a three-time MLA from Thanlon in Phirjawal district. The BJP MLA was on his way to his official residence after meeting the Chief Minister at the time of the attack. Meanwhile, the angry mob attacked the MLA’s car. During this, the driver was also hit while the MLA’s PSO managed to escape.
Treatment of injured MLA is going on in RIMS
The condition of the MLA is said to be critical. He is undergoing treatment at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal. Please inform that BJP MLA Walte is from the Kuki community. He was the Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister of Manipur in the previous BJP government.

A mob allegedly attacked people from the Meitei community during the march in Torbung area of Churachandpur district, leading to retaliatory attacks in districts of the valley, which escalated the violence across the state. Several shops and houses were ransacked and set on fire in Torbung in the arson that lasted for more than three hours.
CM Singh said – Violence is the result of misunderstanding in the society
Urging people to maintain calm, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said besides loss of property, precious lives have been lost, which is very unfortunate. The CM said the violence was a result of ‘misunderstanding’ in the society. Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed to contain the widespread riots that have spread across Manipur.
The Governor of Manipur on Thursday gave his assent to shoot-at-sight orders in “serious cases” to check the escalating violence in the state. After mobile internet services, broadband services have now been suspended in Manipur for spreading violence and rumours.
