Charge Claims: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has claimed that President Draupadi Murmu has not been invited for the inauguration of the new Parliament building this week. Kharge also said that the invitation has not been sent to former President Ram Nath Kovind as well. On Monday, Kharge targeted the central government for not calling the President and the former President.
Kharge accused the BJP government of repeatedly flouting constitutional decorum and said the office of the President has been reduced to symbolism. According to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new Parliament House on May 28.
Kharge made these allegations against the Modi government
Taking to Twitter, Mallikarjun Kharge said that the Modi government seems to have ensured the election of the President from among Dalit and Adivasi communities for electoral reasons. He said that former President Ram Nath Kovind was not even invited to the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new Parliament building.

The Congress President said that if the President inaugurates the new Parliament House, it would be a symbol of the government’s commitment to democratic values and constitutional norms. In another tweet, Kharge said, “The Modi government has repeatedly disrespected decorum. The office of the President of India has been reduced to symbolism under the BJP-RSS government.”
Lok Sabha speaker had given invitation to PM Modi on May 18
Explain that on May 18, the Lok Sabha Secretariat announced that Speaker Om Birla met PM Modi and invited him to inaugurate the new building. Since then many opposition leaders have questioned why PM Modi should inaugurate the new Parliament building? He argued that the head of the legislature should inaugurate and not the head of government.
On Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the new Parliament building should be inaugurated by the President and not by the Prime Minister. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned why the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha were not chosen for the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
