UEFA Nations League: Spain’s 11-year trophy drought ended. Spain beat Croatia in the final of the Nations League. This defeat once again broke the world’s legendary footballer Luka Modrica’s dream of winning the trophy for the country. The match was decided by a penalty shootout.

Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simón saved two shots to give Spain the victory. The match was tied 0-0 till extra time. But in the penalty shootout, the goalkeeper did wonders. Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente said that in the practice before the final, we took penalties well.

Spain’s other previous titles came at the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships in 1964, 2008 and 2012. At the same time, the chance to win another title for Croatia went out of hand. Croatia finished second in the World Cup in 2018 and third in Qatar last year. Meanwhile, Modric has won the Champions League five times with Real Madrid and was named FIFA’s world player of the year in 2018, breaking Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s decade-long dominance of the title.
