Uniform Civil Code: The Law Commission has extended the deadline to respond to the Uniform Civil Code. The Law Commission said that there is tremendous response from people on UCC. In such a situation, people will be able to give their opinion on this issue for two more weeks. The last date will be 28 July.
law commission LCI Secretary K Biswal said that any person, institution or organization can send their opinion on the issue of Uniform Civil Code by emailing memberecretary-lci@gov.in till July 28. Alternatively, a letter may also be sent to the Member Secretary, Law Commission of India, 4th Floor, Lok Nayak Bhawan, Khan Market, New Delhi – 110 003.

Received over 50 lakh suggestions in a month
On June 14, the country’s 22nd Law Commission sought opinion from the public and religious organizations amid the debate on applying uniform law to every citizen living in the country. The law gave 30 days time for this. According to sources, the Law Commission has so far received more than 50 lakh online suggestions. Many suggestions have also been received through hard copy.
Justice Rituraj Awasthi pointed out that the 22nd Law Commission of India is examining the Uniform Civil Code on a reference sent by the Ministry of Law and Justice, among other things.
Tremendous response was received in 2018 as well
The 21st Law Commission had sought public opinion on the issue of Uniform Civil Code through a questionnaire on 7 October 2016. It was repeated again on 19 March 2018 and 27 March 2018. At that time there was tremendous response to the Uniform Civil Code.
