Karnataka: Lokayukta arrested BJP MLA’s son while taking bribe of Rs 40 lakh before assembly elections in Karnataka. Prashant Madal, son of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa, was caught by Lokayukta officials while he was accepting bribe in his office. Madal Virupakshappa is the chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited.
According to Lokayukta officials, on Thursday morning a person lodged a complaint against Prashant accusing him of taking bribe. Thereafter, the Lokayukta officials laid a trap and caught Prashant red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh.

Rs 1.7 crore cash recovered from office in search
A Lokayukta official said, “We searched his office and found Rs 1.7 crore. We suspect that Prashant was taking bribe on behalf of his father. We are probing the source of the amount found in his office.”
When contacted, BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa said, “I am not aware of this. I came to know about this incident from news reports. I haven’t spoken to my son as he is currently in the custody of the Lokayukta.”
Explain that the Karnataka High Court had dissolved the Anti-Corruption Bureau in the state and restored the powers of the Lokayukta. Lokayukta is an anti-corruption authority constituted at the state level to expeditiously redress complaints against the working integrity and efficiency of the government or its administration (public servants).
