Jawahar Lal Nehru Death Anniversary: Today Saturday is the death anniversary of the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reached the memorial Shanti Van in Delhi to pay tribute to Pandit Nehru. Both the leaders paid floral tributes at the memorial. On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary.

Kharge told Nehru the jewel of Hind

Died at the age of 74
Pandit Nehru died on 27 May 1964 at the age of 74. At that time his health was in trouble. The cause of death was said to be a heart attack. After this, the then Home Minister Gulzari Lal Nanda was made the caretaker PM. Four days later Lal Bahadur Shastri was elected leader and became the next PM of the country. Nehru remained the Prime Minister of India for 16 years, 9 months and 12 days, this is a record till date.
