Young player Sheikh Rashid, who once wanted to buy a bat like Dhoni, is learning the tricks of cricket from his idol in CSK today. Rashid has been a part of the 2022 World Cup winning Under-19 team. He scored a half-century in the final against England, which India won by four wickets.

In a recent episode, budding CSK cricketer Sheikh Rashid got emotional remembering an incident. He revealed how he yearned to get a ‘Reebok’ bat. This bat was used by his idol Dhoni.
Rashid said- It was my eighth birthday. I told my father that I wanted a Reebok bat. Dhoni bhai used to use that bat and at that time we did not have much money so we could not buy that bat. After that I just cried all day.
Bought for Rs 20 lakh
Rasheed recalled another incident – I was a ball boy during a game where I saw someone using a Reebok bat. At that time I could somehow control my emotions. Actually, I wanted to play with that bat. The 18-year-old player was bought by CSK for Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2023 auction. He is learning cricket from his captain Dhoni. Although he has not got a chance to play the match yet.
Mahi bhai told me – just do what you know
Rashid said about meeting Dhoni- “Mahi bhai saying ‘hi’ to me, it was special for me. First I met him in the bus and then on the ground. Mahi Bhai told me – just do what you know. He asked me to perform to the best of my ability. After finishing the practice, I learned how to prepare for the T20 format. When I was bowling, Mahi bhai used to give me advice on what I could do. He also used to give suggestions after hitting the ball. CSK has won five out of seven matches. They will now take on Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
