New Delhi: Last year’s champions Gujarat Titans registered a resounding 5-wicket win against CSK in the IPL opener. Batting first, CSK scored 178 runs, chasing which Titans won the match by 5 wickets with 3 balls to spare. In the very first match of the IPL, both the teams used the impact player. CSK used Tushar Deshpande in place of Ambati Rayudu and Gujarat Titans used Sai Sudarshan in place of injured Kane Williamson. While Deshpande took 1 wicket for 51 runs in 3.2 overs, Sai was dismissed after scoring 22 runs. Overall, the impact players of both the teams proved to be insufficient.
Very well done by Rahul and Rashid
After the victory, GT captain Hardik Pandya said – Obviously very happy. At one stage we put ourselves in a difficult position, but Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan did very well. We were happy in the middle innings because at one stage it looked like they were going for 200, but we got two wickets in the middle to come back.

The impact rule makes my job more difficult
Pandya said- My work becomes difficult due to the impact rule. Actually, I have a lot of options and because of this one will bowl less. In this game I realized that bowling hard length is the right way, so Alzarri Joseph bowled late. Rashid is a real asset to have, he will get you wickets as well as score runs. My shot today and Shubman’s shot was not the best, we need to improve it to make sure we don’t put too much responsibility on these guys,” Pandya said.
