Poverty Reduction: 41.5 crore Indians came out of ‘poverty’ and became ‘rich’ in 15 years, know the situation of China-Pakistan

Poverty Reduction: India is no longer a country of the poor. This fact has been confirmed by a news from the United Nations. In the 15 years between 2005 and 2021, poverty reduction has come down at a record level in India. In the Multidimensional Poverty Index released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), it was told that a total of 415 million i.e. 415 million people came out of poverty in India. The United Nations described this change as historic and praised India.

Poor decreased in China and Pakistan as well

Apart from India, China lifted 69 million people out of poverty between 2010-2014 and Indonesia lifted 8 million people out of poverty between 2012-2017. Neighboring Bangladesh and Pakistan lifted 19 million people out of poverty between 2015-2019 and 7 million during 2012-2018.

Poor earning less than Rs 157

Indeed, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) at the University of Oxford have updated the global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) of 110 developing countries. In this, data of 6.1 billion people was collected. People living on less than US$1.90 (i.e. 157 rupees) per day are generally considered to be in poverty.

Poverty of half the population was eradicated in 12 years

The United Nations said that poverty reduction is possible. According to the report, an analysis of trends from 2000 to 2022 showed that 25 countries halved poverty figures within 15 years. Many countries have eradicated the poverty of half of the population within four to 12 years. Those countries include India, Cambodia, China, Congo, Honduras, Indonesia, Morocco, Serbia and Vietnam.

Mapping on these indexes

Poverty statistics have been collected on the basis of health, education, standard of living. The UNDP report states that addressing the problems of nutrition and energy scarcity in India should continue to be on the government’s priority list.
