The pair of Test debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma have settled in Dominica’s field. Both the batsmen have reached close to the century while batting brilliantly. With this, this Indian pair has made a big record in the history of Test cricket.

India took the lead for the first time without losing a wicket

Through the pair of Yashasvi-Rohit, India took the first innings lead without losing a wicket for the first time in Test history. It had not happened till date that no wicket fell in any innings of the Test and the team also took the lead. Rohit-Yashaswi became the first partner to do so.

Sehwag-Dravid’s record can be broken

Talking about the score of the match, India has scored 199 runs in 68 overs till drinks in the second session. Jaiswal scored 98 runs in 210 balls and Rohit scored 85 runs in 198 balls. Due to the brilliant innings of both the batsmen, India has achieved a score of 199 runs in 68 overs without losing wickets. Team India has taken a lead of 49 runs. South African batsmen Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith hold the record for the highest opening partnership in an innings of a Test. He scored 415 against Bangladesh in 2008. On the other hand, this record among Indian batsmen is in the name of Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid, who scored 410 against Pakistan in Lahore in 2006. It will be interesting to see how successful Rohit-Yashaswi are in breaking this record.
