we’ll stick to the hard line
“Runs are short but we will stick to a tight line and go as far as we can,” said Umesh, who returned figures of 3/12 in 5 overs. He said- “My plan on this surface was to bowl straight and go for one or two wickets. As a fast bowler, I have to bowl in the right areas. Having played most of my cricket in India, my mindset has always been to take wickets.”

The fast bowler said that on such wickets, it is more important for a lower-order batsman to attack rather than defend. When I went out to bat, we didn’t get any message to bat aggressively. My job was to score runs on this tough wicket. It is difficult to score runs here. I think it is better to shoot on such wickets than to defend and get out at the end. Even I would have scored 10-20 runs, taking the lead to 90. It’s more important to me.”
