Pakistan: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of former Pakistan Prime Minister and former cricketer Imran Khan, may be banned soon. Voices have started rising again in this regard. According to Dawn, Imran Khan said that if his party is banned, he will form a new political party to contest the upcoming general elections and win the elections.
Violence erupted after the arrest
In fact, after the arrest of Imran Khan in a corruption case on May 9, violence erupted in Pakistan. Imran supporters had attacked several army establishments. There was a lot of damage to the country’s revenue. After that, due to the strictness on the protesters and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, many government figures had called for a ban on the party.
Defense Minister said – the idea of banning is going on
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had said that banning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was the only solution. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said the move was being considered and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had also said that his party would oppose any move to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Imran said – my support is intact, will win again
When asked about the impact of the possible ban on his electoral future by Nikkei Asia, Imran Khan said that if he pulls out of the party, we will form a party with a new name and still win the election. He declared that even if they disqualified me and put me in jail, the party would still win. While the base of supporters remains intact, he claims that national politics has fundamentally changed.
On the ongoing crackdown on his party, Imran Khan said that the government is still trying to break it through intimidation.
