Hyderabad: Renowned orthopedic expert Mazharuddin Ali Khan committed suicide by allegedly shooting himself with a licensed weapon at his Banjara Hills residence on Monday. Mazhar Ali, who works at Owaisi Hospital, is the father-in-law of AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi’s second daughter. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Joel Davis said the incident happened around noon. When Mazharuddin Ali Khan called from the hospital and others, he did not pick up the phone.

Worried about the doctor not taking calls, some of his acquaintances contacted the people working at the house. Those who went to the room and saw, found him soaked in blood. He was immediately taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. Police have said that prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide. He had a pistol. The weapon has been seized. A case of domestic violence has been registered
A few months ago a case of domestic violence was registered against Mazhar Ali on the complaint of his wife. The orthopedic doctor lived separately in his house with servants. The Banjara Hills police shifted the body to the mortuary of Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem, where a team of doctors conducted the post-mortem and later handed over the body to the relatives. The police have seized the doctor’s mobile phone and sought details of phone calls to ascertain whether he had spoken to any person before shooting himself. The police have also recorded the statements of the people present in the house at the time of the incident.
