New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dilip Ghosh on Sunday alleged that Hindus were being “deliberately attacked” in West Bengal. He said that the TMC government led by Mamta Banerjee is not trying to solve the problem.
The Calcutta High Court has handed over the probe into the violence that broke out in Howrah and Dalkhola districts and other parts of West Bengal during Ram Navami celebrations to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Speaking to ANI, Ghosh said that Hindus are being deliberately attacked in Bengal. The government is not resolving the issue, so the court has given directions for an NIA probe. Earlier, a bench headed by Acting Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam ordered the state police to hand over the case papers to the central government so that the NIA could start its probe.
Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had said that the violence in Howrah district during Ram Navami festival appeared to be pre-planned and that there was a failure by the West Bengal Police to gather intelligence.
