New Delhi: At least 16 people, including at least four Indians, have died in a massive fire at a residential building in Dubai. Nine people have also been injured in this incident. One family among the dead is from Kerala. The fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building and then spread to other parts as well.
Khaleej Times has quoted an Indian social activist Naseer Vatanapalli as saying that a couple was also among the four Indian people who died in the fire. Gulf News reported that the Dubai Civil Defense Operations Room received a call at 12.35 a.m. on Saturday about a fire in a building in Al Ras, the old area of Dubai. According to the information received, a massive fire broke out on the fourth floor of the building and started spreading to other areas. The fire has now been brought under control.
Quoting Naseer Vatanapalli, an Indian social worker present at the Dubai police morgue, the newspaper reported that four Indians, including a couple from Kerala, had been identified among the victims. Vatanapalli said that till now we have been able to identify 4 Indians. Out of this, a couple from Kerala and two men from Tamil Nadu are involved. These people used to work in the building. At the same time, 3 Pakistanis and a Nigerian woman are also included in those who died.
