Dubai Building Fire: 16 people, including a couple from Kerala’s Malappuram district, were killed in a fire at a residential building in Dubai’s Deira. The deceased couple has been identified as Kalangdan Rijesh, 38, and Kandamangalat Jishi, 32. Both are residents of Vengara in Malappuram.
The other deceased are reportedly from Pakistan and Sudan. According to the police, the couple died of suffocation. The security guard involved in the rescue operation has also died. Police suspect that the cause of the fire was a short circuit. It is being told that Rijesh worked in a travel agency while Jishi was a teacher at Khiza’s Crescent School.
According to media reports, a fire broke out in a building in the Freejmurar area of Naif, Dubai’s busiest market. Rijesh’s father’s brother told that the bodies of both Rijesh and Jishi are expected to reach their native village by tomorrow.
The fire was brought under control in more than two hours
Please inform that the incident of fire is on Sunday. The fire first broke out on the fourth floor of a five-storey building located in the Al Ras area of Dubai. Then in a short while the fire engulfed the other floors as well. According to Dubai Police, the fire was reported around 12.35 pm. The fire was brought under control at around 2:42 pm. Police said that as soon as the information was received, the team of Dubai Civil Defense Headquarters had reached the spot.
