FOR Against Wrestlers: The process of quashing cases filed against wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh alleging sexual harassment has been initiated. On Thursday, the Delhi Police said that a request has been sent to the government to withdraw the registered case. As soon as the approval is received from the government, the cases filed against the wrestlers will be dismissed.

These cases were registered against the wrestlers on 28 May. Wrestlers protested outside Jantar Mantar despite Section 144 being in force. The wrestlers were adamant on holding a panchayat in front of the new parliament. The new parliament was inaugurated by PM Modi on the same day. Top wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik were taken into custody by the police. Also, the tents at Jantar Mantar were uprooted.

No evidence found against Brijbhushan

During the investigation, the Delhi Police has not found any truth in the allegations made by the minor against Brij Bhushan. After this, Delhi Police has filed a 550-page cancellation report in the court on Thursday. There has been a demand that the POCSO Act case against Brij Bhushan be withdrawn. The next date of hearing is July 4.

Explain that the cancellation report is filed in those cases when no corroborative evidence is found. On the other hand, the Delhi Police filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in two courts on charges of sexual harassment. The first charge sheet was filed in the Rouse Avenue Court in the case registered on the complaint of 6 adult women wrestlers, while the second charge sheet was filed in the Patiala Court in the case registered on the complaint of a minor.

What did Delhi Police say?

Delhi Police said that after completion of the investigation in the POCSO case, we have submitted a police report under Section 173 CrPC requesting to quash the case based on the statements of the complainant i.e. father of the minor victim and the victim herself.

Delhi Police PRO Suman Nalwa said that we have filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh under sections 354, 354-A and D and against Vinod Tomar under sections 109, 354, 354 (A), 506 . We have filed a cancellation report under POCSO under the statement of the complainant and the alleged accused.

In the charge sheet, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava says that the charge sheet has been filed under sections 354, 354D, 354A and 506 (1) of the IPC.
