Delhi Liquor Policy Case: Aam Aadmi Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday after an 8-hour-long interrogation. According to the CBI, Sisodia was arrested for destroying the evidence. After the arrest, the CBI said that Sisodia would be produced in the CBI court in the afternoon.
CBI appeared dissatisfied with Sisodia’s answers
The CBI, in an 8-hour marathon interrogation, asked him several questions regarding the new excise policy of Delhi. He was asked several questions about his links between his close aide Dinesh Arora and other accused. Apart from this, there was a long questioning of the Deputy CM on other issues including details of exchange of phone messages. Officials said that Sisodia did not answer many of these questions. After this he was arrested.
CBI claims – Liquor dealers benefited from the policy
Sisodia was accused that his new liquor policy benefited the dealers a lot. According to the CBI, it is also alleged that various irregularities including change in excise policy, extension of L-1 license without approval, extension of L-1 license without approval, giving undue benefits to licensees, etc.
Manish Sisodia’s name is not in the charge sheet
Explain that Sisodia has not been made an accused in the charge sheet filed in the case. Arrested businessmen Vijay Nair and Abhishek are among the seven accused named in the charge sheet. In this case, in August last year, the CBI had searched Sisodia’s bank locker. The deputy CM claimed that investigators did not find any incriminating material in his locker.
