Delhi: Soon the strength of the Indian Air Force will increase further. On Friday, the Defense Ministry signed an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to purchase six Dornier-228 aircraft. The purchase of these aircraft will cost Rs 667 crore.

Airforce has already used
This aircraft has been used for Airforce route transport role and communication duty. Subsequently, it has also been used for the training of transport pilots of the Indian Air Force.
New aircraft will be with upgraded engine
The batch of six aircraft will be procured with an upgraded fuel-efficient engine with five-bladed composite propeller. This aircraft is suitable for semi prepared and short runways of North East and hilly areas of India.
The Ministry of Defense says that the induction of six aircraft will further increase the operational capability of the Indian Air Force in remote areas.
