Agnipath Scheme: The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to stay the central government’s army recruitment scheme Agneepath. Also dismissed all the petitions filed regarding the scheme. A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramaniam Prasad refused to hear the petitions seeking reinstatement in the defense services as per the previous recruitment scheme. The court said there was no cogent reason to interfere with the scheme.
The court had reserved its order on December 15 last year and asked the parties to file their written submissions by December 23 before the commencement of the winter break in the court. People between the age group of 17½ to 21 years are eligible to apply for the Agneepath scheme which was launched on June 14 last year and will have a tenure of four years. Out of these, 25 percent Agniveers will be regularised.
