West Bengal: The CBI on Friday issued summons to Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee for questioning in connection with the alleged teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. After this, Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee got angry. Targeting the BJP, he said that his party workers and family were being harassed by the BJP using investigative agencies. Mamta said that Karnataka has now gone to the hands of BJP, it will be seen that more states will also go in the coming days.

Mamta Banerjee said that till the BJP is not thrown out of the center, our fight against its tyranny will continue. The Chief Minister said that we are not afraid.

Abhishek Banerjee ready to cooperate in the investigation

Abhishek Banerjee tweeted a copy of the CBI summons on Friday. He said that I have been summoned by the CBI. Called for inquiry tomorrow 20th May. I will obey the summons even though I have not been given a day’s notice. I will extend my full cooperation during the investigation. As far as my journey is concerned, it will start again on May 22 from the same place in Bankura where I have stopped today. I will try to serve the people of West Bengal with more dedication, enthusiasm and commitment without getting distracted by these incidents.

Order came yesterday, CBI came into action today

Calcutta High Court Justice Amrita Sinha on Thursday rejected the application of Abhishek Banerjee and Kuntal in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam. Along with this, a fine of Rs 25 lakh was also imposed on both of them for wasting the time of the court. Advocate Firdous Shamim said that now there is no hindrance in the investigation process. ED and CBI can inquire.

Please inform that Abhishek Banerjee is the National General Secretary of TMC. At the same time, Kuntal Ghosh has been expelled from the party. It was Kuntal Ghosh who had named Abhishek Banerjee in this scam. Later, he said that he was pressurized by the central agencies to take the name.

What is teacher recruitment scam?

In 2014, the West Bengal School Service Commission took out the recruitment of teachers in government schools. Partha Chatterjee was the education minister at that time. The recruitment process started in 2016. When there were complaints of many irregularities in this matter, the matter reached the High Court. The CBI filed the first charge sheet on 30 September. It contained the names of 16 people, including former education minister Partha Chatterjee. The ED arrested Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee. Partha Chatterjee is in jail since 23 July 2022.
