CBI raids several states on online rail ticket black marketing

Prashant Dev, New Delhi: CBI has taken major action in the ongoing investigation of a case related to illegal sale of railway reserved berth e-tickets through IRCTC website. CBI carried out searches at 12 locations in five States/UTs. These searches have been taken in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. During this, CBI got digital devices, mobile phones, objectionable documents and illegal software with illegal software. The details including tickets of passengers booked earlier using these were recovered by the CBI.

During investigation, it was found that the agents were allegedly using illegal software to bypass the manual entry process to buy tickets, which were sold to passengers at premium rates. The CBI identified and searched the agents involved in this illegal activity. The person responsible for selling and distributing illegal software to various agents was also identified. Investigation is on in this matter.
