West Bengal Panchayat polls: Calcutta High Court has given a big order on Wednesday before the voting of Panchayat elections in West Bengal. The High Court directed a CBI inquiry into the incidents of violence that broke out over the filing of nominations for the Panchayat elections. Also expressing strong displeasure, said, ‘If the bloodshed continues, then panchayat elections in Bengal should be stopped.’

Justice Amrita Sinha said, ‘So much violence in Panchayat elections. If the bloodshed continues the polling should be stopped. So much violence in a panchayat election. So much disorder. So many skirmishes. It is a shame for a state. Why is there so much chaos? What is the State Election Commission doing?

Fierce violence in Dinajpur, Murshidabad and South 24 Parganas

Violence broke out during the nomination process in North Dinajpur, Murshidabad and Bhangar in South 24 Parganas in Bengal. During this four people died. Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers clashed on the second day of nominations in South Bengal’s Bhangar. During this, bombs were thrown and firing took place. On June 15, the last day of filing nominations, there was heavy violence in Bijayganj market of Bhangar Block 2. Where vans and cars were set on fire. Two people, an ISF and a TMC worker, were killed in the clashes.

Miscreants opened fire on the Leftist Congress rally in Chopra, Uttar Dinajpur, seriously injuring three people. On June 15, there was violence in Murshidabad as well. A local TMC leader was returning home when he was attacked. The injured worker died. TMC leader Mozammel Shaikh was attacked in Nabagram when he was returning home after filing his nomination papers.

Although Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee says that TMC is not involved in violence. But BJP and Congress are blaming TMC for the violence.
