British Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab resigns, writes letter to PM Sunak

Dominic Raab

New Delhi: British Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Dominic Raab has resigned from his post. They have taken this decision after an independent investigation into formal complaints of bullying. In a letter published on Twitter to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Raab said the investigation had set a dangerous precedent but he would continue to support the government.

Raab said that I demanded an investigation and pledged to resign if any of the bullying was discovered. I believe that keeping your word is important. However, he added that the investigation has set a dangerous precedent. This will encourage fake complaints against ministers and will have a bad effect on change-makers from your government.

Raab’s resignation means the third senior minister to step down over personal conduct since Sunak entered Downing Street in October. Rishi Sunak had promised to run the government honestly.
