Karimganj: Assam Police on Saturday caught a truck carrying 1020 kg of Ganja. The value of the recovered hemp is estimated to be around Rs 1.02 crore. The police is now ascertaining where the smugglers were going to consume such a large quantity of cannabis.
Suspicion after seeing the gesture of the truck driver
According to the police, there was a hint of smuggling of ganja in the district. On the basis of secret information, vehicles were checked by blockade at many places including Karimganj, Tripura border. During this, the truck coming from Tripura was stopped for checking. During interrogation, the gestures of the truck driver were found suspicious. A large quantity of ganja was recovered during the investigation of the truck.

The matter is being investigated by interrogating the driver
According to Churabari police station in-charge Niranjan Das, we have also caught truck driver Biplab Das. It is being ascertained that how this hemp was to be further located and who are the people involved in smuggling of hemp. Raids are on to nab other gang members.
