New Delhi: Speculation is rife about the Asia Cup to be held this year. Although the decision on whether it will be held in Pakistan or not is currently postponed, but many questions are being raised about this tournament. The Asia Cup was initially awarded to Pakistan. It was scheduled to be held in September this year, but BCCI secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Jay Shah had announced last October that the Asia Cup would be held at a neutral venue. He also said that the government will take a decision on whether India will visit Pakistan or not. Meanwhile, India’s veteran spin bowler Harbhajan Singh has given his opinion on this issue.
we should not send our team to pakistan
Harbhajan Singh told Indian Express- “I think BCCI is right. We should not send our team to Pakistan. Recently there was some firing near Karachi Stadium. You don’t want to send your team to a place where anything can happen at any time.” No venue should be considered which is a security issue for the players.”
Can be organized in UAE
According to a report in news agency PTI, sources in Pakistan cricket told that Pakistan may continue as the host in a resolution to the Asia Cup impasse and India may be offered to play their matches in UAE. Earlier on February 4, an emergency meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was held in Bahrain. Despite a face-off between PCB chief Najam Sethi and Jay Shah, the decision on organizing the Asia Cup has been postponed for the time being.
